The Directorate of Student Welfare Services coordinates both Catering and Accommodation departments in the University. Its function is to ensure quality Residential and Food services at an affordable rate.
In order to address the challenges of planning and development, Egerton University established the Directorate of Planning and Development in 2009 which was later changed to the Department of Planning and Development in the 2023 Statutes, headed by Registrar Planning & Development.
The Directorate of IGU is domiciled with the Division of Administration, Finance and Planning (AFP) and was created to provide revenue to supplement government funding hence enhancing University ability to sustain itself beyond the traditional funding sources.
The role of the Directorate is to provide strategic guidance to University departments that generate income through products, services and innovations.
The centre plays a central role of providing clear guidance in the integration of technology in teaching, learning, research and overall administration of the University.
The centre ensures that IT infrastructure, service delivery norms and new applications deployments are in line with current industry trends and that the systems put in place add true value to the University.
Disability continues to be a challenge to many people in Kenya despite the efforts made by the government to cater for persons with disabilities. As an institution of higher learning, Egerton University has established a department of Disability Mainstreaming under the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Finance and Planning (DVC-AF&P) to implement the Disability Mainstreaming Policy. Disability mainstreaming is anchored in Law;
The Medical Department is headed by Chief Medical Officer. The Department offers health services to staff and their dependant, students and the community at large. The Medical Department has a capacity of 30 beds with maternity wing having 6 beds.
The department conducts workshops and health awareness week periodically to inform the university community on matters pertaining to health and the provision of health services.
The Transport Department provides efficient transport services to the university. It is also responsible for the maintenance of University Vehicles , the department is headed by the Transport Officer and consist of the vehicle booking section and the workshop section.
The Estates Department is under Administration and Finance Division and provides maintenance in the common areas in the University as well as classrooms, staff quarters and grounds.
It is among the essential services department.
Catering is a Hospitality Department charged with responsibilities of offering essential catering services first and foremost to student, University employees, University guests and walk- in – visitors.

Accommodation department is a service entity that provides good quality housing environment which is comfortable, convenient and safe to students. It has a great influence on the creation of favorable atmosphere for learning to achieve the desired educational needs. It is apparent, from the strong levels of demand that students generally would prefer to reside on-campus accommodation.
