Welcome to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.

The main goal of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery is to contribute to the livestock sector and facilitate it to achieve its full potential in poverty reduction through realization of a healthy and improved animal resource industry.

Our faculty contributes to this through mounting of innovative, industry/farmer centered degree programs and research initiatives. Through the years of study, our students are equipped with adequate theoretical, practical (hands-on) and technological knowledge; soft skills and the right attitude that they employ in the treatment and control of animal diseases. The faculty continues to churn out competent veterinarians to serve the animal resource industry, locally/nationally, regionally and internationally. Additionally it contributes to creation of a research pool of scientists on various scientific fields including academia.

As a faculty we envisage to develop into a national/regional centre of excellence in training, research, community outreach and consultancy on matters veterinary services.
