Rationale
Technical Innovation & Professional Recognition
The programme covers areas such as Soil and Water Conservation, Farm Power and Machinery, Irrigation, Agricultural Structures, Agricultural Processing, and Renewable energy. The programme provides core element of engineering that are recognised by professional bodies such as Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and are crucial in enhancing the performance of the Agricultural sector.
Industry Alignment & Human Capital
The decline in the contribution of the Agricultural sector to Kenya’s Gross Domestic Product has been attributed to, among other things, poor technologies, and lack of well-trained manpower in this sector. The programme has thus been designed with emphasis on practical approach incorporating the current advancement in technology to satisfy the technical manpower requirements for the Agricultural Industry and to achieve Kenya’s development goal of industrialisation in the year 2030.

The goal of the programme is to impart skills in various fields of Agricultural Engineering and build competencies in use of farm forces for sustained production, conservation of natural resources, effective storage, and use of green energy.
Admissions
Entry Requirements & Criteria
The admission requirement shall be based on Egerton University Statute article 37(2) of 2023.
- Direct Entry Route: Applicants must score a minimum of C+ (plus) in Mathematics and Physics in addition to meeting the minimum cutoff points set by KUCCPS.
- Alternative Qualifications: Diploma holders with a credit or higher in a relevant course from an accredited tertiary learning institution may also be considered for admission.
Credit Transfers
Accumulation & Policy Guidelines
Regulations on credit accumulation, including possible pathways, shall be in line with the provisions of Universities Regulations, Universities Standards and Guidelines, and general national trends.
Normal credit transfer will not exceed 40% of the programme total Credit Factors as stipulated in the Egerton University Statutes 37(3) of 2023.

Examination Rules
Examinations for this programme will comply with the Egerton University Statute 37 (7), of 2023 and the Egerton University Procedure for Teaching and Examinations (EU/AA/OP/07).
Grading System
The grading of examination for this programme shall be conducted in accordance with Egerton University Statues 37 (8) (e)(i) (f), of 2023.
Graduation Baseline
To graduate a student shall be required to take and pass at least 150.5 CFs which, at least 9 CFs will be University Common Core Courses within the stipulated period in accordance with Egerton University Statute 37 (6) (a) (b) (c), of 2023.
