A delegation from Naijing Agricultural University (NAU) - China today  paid a courtesy call to Egerton University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Kibwage. The visit aimed to discuss 

establishing   a China-Kenya joint laboratory focused on crop molecular biology, a venture set to enhance research  and technological exchange between the two institutions.

During the meeting, representatives from NAU led by Prof. Pan Leiqing and Prof. Li Yuan highlighted their commitment to ensuring the joint venture of establishing crop molecular Biology laboratory is realized and which will help  in fostering innovative solutions to global agricultural challenges through molecular biology techniques. 

This collaboration will largely involve other line  institutions  like the China Institute  for Science and Technology where  students both undergraduate  and postgraduate will acquire sponsorship for training and research.

They emphasized the potential of the joint laboratory to facilitate capacity building, and knowledge transfer, particularly in crop improvement programs vital for food security.

On behalf of the  Vice Chancellor  Prof.  Isaac Kibwage, DVC- Academic Affairs Prof. Bernard Aduda   said this strong collaboration is  for the mutual benefit of the two  Institutions.  Prof. Aduda noted that NAU is a long time and a strong  partner of Egerton University and the cordial relations   has seen the two institutions  grow bigger and better in areas of joint programming, Research, agricultural extension and  capacity building. 

 The DVC thanked the good work NAU is doing in collaboration  especially on scholarships for needy students and that  Egerton University Management will give full support to this joint  collaboration to make it a reality.

He said establishing a crop molecular Laboratory   aligns with Egerton University's strategic goals of advancing agricultural sciences and fostering international partnerships. Also present were;  Prof. Arnold Opiyo- Director Confucius Institute and  Prof. Mary Omwamba
