The department of Civil and Environmental Engineering was established in 1998 and was then known as the department of Water and Environmental Engineering. The first cohort was admitted in 1999 and graduated in
2004. Since then, we have had a steady stream of highly qualified graduates who are currently employed in various sectors of the economy. On 23rd November 2023, Engineers Board of Kenya recognized our new programme that will lead to the award of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.

Agricultural Engineering (AGEN)

The Department of Agricultural Engineering at Egerton University is the pioneer department of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology having moved from the Faculty of agriculture in 1997.  It aims at professional and skills development of students undertaking both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The department focuses on imparting knowledge and skills with a view to enable the students to be innovative in solving challenges affecting society.

This department deals with application of engineering principles to the art and science of transforming raw materials into goods that meet the market demand while taking into account cost, economy and the environment.

Electrical
Electrical and Control Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Control was established in 1990 in the faculty of Engineering and it is among the first departments in Kenya to offer a BSc Degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering. with the objective of imparting quality education in the domain of  Industrial Control and Instrumentation. With rapidly evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation, the department has always produced quality professionals, holding important positions in leading Electrical Control industrial sector in Kenya and abroad.
