  • conference

Innovation and commercialization officers from Strathmore University visited the Egerton iHub at Egerton University to strengthen collaboration on research commercialization.

Innovation and commercialization officers from Strathmore University visited the Egerton iHub at Egerton University to strengthen collaboration on research commercialization.

The visit aimed to connect faculty innovators with commercialization experts. This means researchers can receive guidance on turning ideas into market-ready products. The delegation held discussions on joint strategies to support commercialization in both universities. These talks focused on practical steps such as intellectual property management, startup incubation, and industry partnerships. This signals the universities quest for research outputs to generate economic and social value.

The team was received by Director of Research and Extension, George Owuor. He was joined by iHub officer Joseph Momanyi, innovators Dr. Matheri and Prof. Cheruiyot, and Dean of Agriculture John Nduko. Their presence signaled institutional commitment to innovation support. In essence, the university leadership is directly backing commercialization initiatives. This is by setting up an ecosystem and policies that enables Research and Development as well as Commercialisation (R&D) and (R2C).

Participants also explored ways to engage industry partners in funding and scaling innovations. This means private sector involvement will help move research from laboratories to the marketplace. The visit strengthened cooperation between the two universities and laid the groundwork for future joint commercialization programs.
