Biomedical Integration & Public Health
The Biomedical Science and Technology programme intends to continue providing a critical, highly functional link between human medicine and public health for the advancement of humanity. Graduates from this programme are uniquely prepared to enrich the human resource pipeline in healthcare sectors, diagnostic labs, and key educational or research institutions focusing on both animal and plant research paradigms.
Programme Objective
Competencies & Collaborative Research
Designed to produce elite biomedical scientists with sufficient competencies and scientific research skills, this program qualifies graduates to operate efficiently across multi-disciplinary environments. Upon graduation, trainees will have:
- Acquired the essential knowledge, technical skills, and high ethical standards required to work as part of integrated, multi-disciplinary diagnostic or clinical teams.
- Enhanced their ability to carry out collaborative research, execute complex data analysis, and present scientific communications professionally.
- Developed foundational entrepreneurial and innovation skills directly applicable to advanced biomedical research and technology commercialization.
- Gained the rigorous academic grounding required to satisfy entry requirements for professional degree programmes in Human Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and related disciplines.
Admission Requirements
Statutory Prerequisites & Clusters
Admission of students into this programme will follow Egerton University Statute 37 (2) of 2023. Candidates must have passed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent with the following minimum subject grades:
- Chemistry: C+ or Physical Science B-
- Physics: C+ or Physical Science B-
- Mathematics: C+
- Biology: C+ or Biological Science B-
Advanced Level (A-Level) Pathway: Candidates must possess a Principal Pass in each of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics, or any other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Egerton University Senate.

Accumulation & Transfer Protocols
Credit Accumulation
Regulations on credit accumulation, including possible academic pathways, shall remain fully in line with the provisions of Universities Regulations, Universities Standards and Guidelines, and general national trends.
Credit Transfer
Normal academic credit transfer validations shall not exceed 40% of the programme's total expected Credit Factors, as strictly stipulated under Egerton University Statute 37(3) of 2023.

Examinations & Testing Frameworks
Examination Governance
Examination regulations for the program shall be conducted in accordance with Egerton University Statutes of 2023 article 37 (7). Examinations shall be held at the end of each semester of each year of study in accordance with the university examination regulations.
Grading Systems
The grading of examinations for this programme shall be conducted in accordance with Egerton University Statute 37(8) of 2023.

Minimum Credit Factor (CF) Targets
To graduate, a student shall be required to take and pass a minimum of 164 CFs. This academic framework must explicitly include a baseline of at least 18.5 CFs of mandatory University Common Core Courses.
