Academic Context & Purpose
The Bachelor of Arts program offers students a comprehensive, interdisciplinary education beyond any particular discipline. The program teaches subjects such as Sociology, History, Economics, Philosophy, English, Mathematics, Geography, Kiswahili, Literature, and Religious Studies. The program aims to develop critical thinking, personal exploration, and environmental engagement skills that graduates can use to analyze complex societal issues and develop practical solutions. The program also seeks to cultivate a holistic worldview integrating diverse perspectives and values, preparing graduates to become informed and responsible citizens who rationally approach societal issues. Graduates possess the knowledge and skills to secure employment in civil service, foreign service, NGOs, international organizations, leadership, consultancies, and advisory positions to address critical societal issues.

Entry Requirements & Guidelines
Admission into Bachelor of Arts degree programme will be guided by the Egerton University Statute 37 (2) (c) and (8), of 2023.
- Applicants who hold Diploma from Egerton University with “Credit” or higher or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution in the relevant field of specialisation acceptable to the Senate and have (KCSE) with a mean grade of C- (C-Minus) may be considered.
- Those with a “pass” diploma and (KCSE) with a mean grade of C- (C-Minus) shall be considered if they have at least two years of relevant experience after graduation.
- Applicants in this category may be required to meet any additional entry requirements set forth by the departments that house the disciplines offered in the Bachelor of Arts. Admission is also open to other degree holders with minimum entry requirements.
Structure & Duration
Curriculum Matrix & Pathways
To pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree, students must take three disciplines from three department in their first and second year of study. However, students may select a maximum of two disciplines from a single department and not all three from a single department. As each department prescribes, students must major in one or two disciplines from their third year. Those majoring in one discipline will take a whole load of credit factors from that discipline. Meanwhile, those majoring in two disciplines from the third year will share credit factors equally between the two disciplines.
To meet the graduation requirements set out in Egerton University Statutes 37 (6), of 2023, learners must complete all the course requirements for their programme by the end of their studies. This can be accomplished through full-time registration or Credit Transfer (CF). To complete the programme within the stipulated time, the learner, the lecturer, and the institution will be expected to meet the following obligations.

Examination Regulations
Examinations for this programme will comply with the Egerton University Statute 37 (7), of 2023 and the Egerton University Procedure for Teaching and Examinations (EU/AA/OP/07).
Grading System
The grading of examination for this programme shall be conducted in accordance with Egerton University Statues 37 (8) (e)(i) (f), of 2023.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate a student shall be required to take and pass at least 150.5 CFs which, at least 9 CFs will be University Common Core Courses within the stipulated period in accordance with Egerton University Statute 37 (6) (a) (b) (c), of 2023.
