Market Integration & Resource Allocation
Students trained in this programme assume leading roles in the public and private commerce of agricultural and food products. Focusing on the vertical integration of agribusiness and trade, the curriculum provides the skills to examine domestic and global consumer interests and their impact on demand. Supplemented by business foundations in marketing, finance, and accounting, students gain unique capabilities in marketing intelligence, complete field-based internships solving real market problems, and examine the efficient allocation of scarce resources for profit maximization.

Combining Agricultural and Social Sciences required for management, this program offers stellar employment prospects in general markets as well as smaller agro-industries looking for multi-talented personnel. Upon graduation, trainees should be able to:
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of agro-industrialization networks and consumer-commodity supply links.
- Analyze operational farm and market situations to solve problems within the agribusiness sector.
- Use structural knowledge to run independent firms, commercial enterprises, and specialized consulting groups.
- Apply complex supply chain management and competitive strategic decision-making concepts.
- Provide data-backed theoretical and practical solutions to organizational problems.
- Actively participate in agribusiness research and global knowledge creation.
Admission Requirements
Institutional Selection Criteria
Applicants pursuing the Bachelor of Agribusiness Management must fulfill the basic University entrance rules of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) alongside any criteria outlined in the Egerton University Statutes. Subject requirements include:
- B in Biology OR B- in Biological Sciences
- B+ in Mathematics
- A C grade pass or higher in Economics, Commerce, or Accounting will act as an added advantage.
Alternative Pathways: Admission may be extended to outstanding diploma holders who achieved a Distinction, Credit, or equivalent in Management, Farm Management, or alternative disciplines recognized by the Egerton University Senate.

Duration: 4 Academic Years (8 Semesters of 17 weeks each).
To graduate, a student covers 156.5 Credit Factors (CF) coursework and 4 CF field attachment, totaling 160.5 CF. Departmental codes start with AGBM, where the first digit signifies study year, the last shows system rank, and the second digit denotes discipline areas:
- 0 = Introduction or General
- 1 = Accounting Related
- 2 = Cooperatives
- 3 = Behavioural Sciences
- 4 = Statistics, Economics & Project
- 5/6 = Marketing, Policy & Field Attachment
Academic Regulations
Assessments & Graduation Pathways
General Testing & Grading: Examinations, overall grading parameters, and final degree classification brackets follow standard protocols outlined under Egerton University Statute XXVIII.
AGBM 361 Field Attachment: Performance parameters are assessed independently using existing Egerton University regulations governing industrial attachments.
AGBM 414 Research Project: Requires compilation of a final typed, bound technical report drawn from the initial proposal framework. Graded out of 100, the complete copy must be presented 2 weeks before the semester closes.
Graduation Requirements: Students must take and pass all required programmatic course components inside the stipulated timelines to clear for graduation.
